Internet Erupts In Laughter After Donald Trump Gets Humiliated During His United Nations Speech

President Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York City Tuesday morning. The president found the crowd at the international gathering particularly responsive, but not in a way he might have expected. During his speech, the audience literally laughed out loud at the president’s boastful claims.

The line that drew laughter was a claim the president has made before, usually to crowds of his loyal supporters at campaign rallies. Trump said, “My administration has accomplished more than any other administration in the history of our country. So true.” Laughter ensued and was loud enough for the president to hear. He acknowledged the response saying, “Didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK.”

Trump’s recognition of the response to his ridiculous claim that he is the most successful president ever drew even more laughter from the international audience. The president’s speech was intended to focus on US sovereignty. He talked about some of his most controversial foreign policy decisions, claiming them as victories.

He discussed his decision to withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Deal and his decision to move the United States Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Both of those decisions drew intense criticism from the international community.

Trump attacked the fundamental precepts of the United Nations. In his speech, he said, “We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism.” Trump also railed against foreign aid, making a claim he has made before.

He said, “the United States is the world’s largest giver in the world, by far, of foreign aid. But few give anything to us.” Trump regularly suggests that the United States should cut foreign aid programs. In his speech, Trump told the United Nations General Assembly, “Only when each of us does our part and contributes our share can we realize the UN’s highest aspirations.”
