Many members of the Trump administration are in New York with the president for the 73rd meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is among those in New York this week.
While in New York, Sanders appeared on set to be interviewed for Good Morning America. George Stephanopolous questioned Sanders about Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Stephanopolous asked Sanders why her boss insists on always taking the side of men accused of abusing women.
Sanders did not want to answer that question, but Stephanopolous refused to let her off the hook. Stephenopolous asked Sanders, “It does seem that the president has already reached a judgment about their stories and when Roy Moore and Bill O’Reilly an Roger Ailes, Rob Porter accused and now when Brett Kavanaugh is accused, the president consistently every single time takes the side of the man.”
Sanders attempted to deflect responding, “it’s interesting that you say that. It’s a lot of Democrats that like to ignore Keith Ellison and Cory Booker and love to fight and champion women until they disagree.”
Stephenopolous continued to grill Sanders, returning to his question he asked, “Every single time the president has taken the side of the man against women accusers.”
Sanders responded with a denial and zero evidence to support it. She said, “that’s not true.” She then moved to a specific discussion of Kavanaugh. She said, “In this case, the president knows Brett Kavanaugh. He’s heard his story. There hasn’t been a shred of evidence to corroborate the other individual stories and there has been a lot of individuals that have come forward and talked about the Brett Kavanaugh that they know and they’re confident these things didn’t happen.”
